Privacy Policy

Ride285 provides real-time metro Atlanta transit information, including train arrivals, bus positions, stop arrivals, and service alerts. This policy explains what information Ride285 accesses, how it is used, and what choices you have. The canonical policy for the Ride285 apps is published at siembralabs.com.

Ride285 may access the following information:

• Precise location, when you grant permission, to show nearby train stations, nearby bus stops, your position on the map, and location-based transit results. On the web this uses your browser's Geolocation permission.
• Favorites and preferences you choose to save, such as favorited stations, bus routes, theme, and language.
• In the mobile app, when you enable remote notifications, a random installation identifier, Expo push token, platform, locale, time zone, notification preferences, and the identifiers and labels of favorites eligible for alerts. Explicit Android bus-wait notifications also use the selected agency, trip, route, stop, and predicted arrival time for that temporary session.
• Technical and diagnostic information that may be collected by platform or map providers needed to operate map functionality, security, or service reliability.

Ride285 does not require account creation and does not ask for names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment information.

We use information only to operate Ride285 and provide its features, including:

• showing nearby transit stations and stops;
• displaying your location on the map when location permission is granted;
• saving your favorites and preferences on your device;
• delivering mobile service alerts and bus-arrival updates you request;
• retrieving live transit information from transit data sources; and
• maintaining functionality, performance, and reliability.

We do not sell personal information.

The web app requests location access only when you use a location feature, and only while the page is open. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your browser settings. If you do, location-based features stop working, but the rest of the app remains available.

Ride285 stores favorites and preferences locally in your browser's storage. There are no user accounts and no cloud sync. This data remains on your device until you clear your browser storage for this site.

In the mobile app, enabling remote favorite alerts sends only the eligible favorite identifiers and notification preferences described above to the Ride285 backend so alerts can be matched while the app is closed. Android waiting notifications send only the transit identifiers needed to follow the bus you explicitly selected.

Ride285 retrieves live transit information from the Ride285 backend, which aggregates official transit data sources. The web map uses OpenStreetMap-based basemap tiles from CARTO and satellite imagery from Esri; those providers may process technical information such as your IP address when tiles load, as described in their own privacy documentation.

We do not sell or rent user information. We rely on service providers that process limited information as needed to provide functionality, including map tile providers, transit data providers, Expo, Apple Push Notification service, and Firebase Cloud Messaging.

The main user-controlled data is stored locally on your device. Mobile notification registrations are retained only to operate notification delivery and are deleted when the app unregisters them or the push provider reports that a token is invalid. Completed temporary waiting sessions and delivery receipts are automatically pruned. If we add accounts or materially different server-side storage, we will update this policy accordingly.

Ride285 is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We take reasonable steps to limit data use to what is needed for Ride285's functionality. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• decline location permission;
• revoke location access in your browser settings;
• in the mobile app, turn off a notification category or revoke notification permission; and
• delete locally stored data by clearing this site's browser storage.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the revised policy where Ride285 is available.
